Liz Earle Skincare Haul

A while ago, my skin had a major freakout. Going crazy, spots appearing left right and centre. I was even getting them on my nose which never ever ever happens. Ever. The only thing that seemed to help was the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic which was an absolute saviour! I started running low and that meant that a little order was on the cards. They have some great offers on at the moment, so its worth checking out the website!

Whilst repurchasing the Instant Boost Skin Tonic, I decided to repurchase the famous Cleanse and Polish which I have had in the past and loved completely! Once I saw I had a few things piling up in my shopping basket, I decided to get one of the monthly offers/bundles which contained pretty much everything I wanted to buy.

The bundle included the large tube of Cleanse and Polish, the full size Instant Boost Skin Tonic, the Eyebright Eye Lotion, the Skin Repair Moisturiser and the Superskin Concentrate facial oil rollerball. With my order, Liz Earle also threw in the travel size Instant Boost Skin Tonic, travel size Cleanse and Polish and a sample of the Superskin Concentrate. I got such a lot for the money I spent. I got over £100 worth of products for just over £50!

I am a big lover of all things Liz Earle, so if you lovely readers have any product recommendations for me give me a shoutout!

The Beauty Cleanse and Detox

Today's post is going to be rather short and sweet as today marks the official first day of spring and I thought I'd seize the opportunity to have a long overdue beauty cleanse - getting rid of products that are almost empty (in some cases, actually empty) or I simply don't need anymore. So for any of you fellow beauty lovers *cough* hoarders *cough*, I want to encourage to do the same. If your drawers and cupboards are overflowing with products (that are probably well past their use by date) and you are in need of a serious beauty detox, then this post is especially for you.

ONE. First up you need to assess the situation and see how big this task is going to be (probably not the best idea to start this when you are meeting a friend in an hour). Have you not had a clear out in a while? Have you got products bursting out of every possible storage location? If so, you probably want to take an entire weekend and slowly sort through everything. If your collection isn't so bad, or you recently had a clear out but know that there are still a few things you could get rid of - maybe an hour or two will be enough.

TWO. The only real way to really sort through your collection is to set out everything in front of you so you can see what you're working with. Start by upturning or tipping out your drawers, boxes or makeup bags onto the floor and start rummaging through to see what you have.

THREE.  Now it's decision making time. The best thing to do is to divide your stash up into three piles - keep, throw and donate. Anything you find to be broken or out of date goes in the bin. Things you know you don't or won't wear/use can be put into a box for friends and family to have a look though. Pretty self-explanatory.

FOUR. Once you have decided what you are going to do with each product (whether bin it, donate it to a friend or keep it), then this is a great opportunity to clean your storage (and even your products if you're anything like me) before tidying everything away. Whilst you're at it, you could even wash your brushes *sighs* and organise everything into categories.

Have you got any tips on how to have a clearout?

NARS Cosmetics Haul

NARS. A brand that I have always loved yet never bought anything from. Until recently. When the Audacious Lipsticks launched in the UK late last year, I bought one (in the shade Vera) and fell in love with it! This made me want to try more things from the brand and now I have!
I had a little spending spree at the NARS counter in Harvey Nichols, but came out with these gorgeous products!

First up, is a recommendation from Gabby (VelvetGh0st). She constantly raves on about the NARS Illuminator in Copacabana and I've been expanding my collection of highlighters recently so decided to give it a go!
I really like the finish it gives, it looks so beautiful on the skin. They also have the shades 'Orgasm', 'Super Orgasm', 'Laguna', 'Adelaide' and '413 BLKR' - so if this one isn't for you there are other shades available.

I also decided to buy another Audacious Lipstick as I loved the formulation of my other one so much. I chose to buy the shade 'Anna' as I have been really into more natural shades recently. It is a gorgeous dusty pink shade and I have worn it loads already.

Many people in the blogging community talk about the NARS Blush in Sin. In many ways it is seen as a cult product, yet I had never owned a NARS blush whether this one or otherwise. Photos don't do justice for the sheer beauty of the shade. It is a stunning berry shade with just a slight shimmer running through it.

Finally, I bought the Satin Lip Pencil in Mandore (Limited Edition - get it quick!). On first application, I was amazed by how creamy it was! It was so hydrating too and had a really nice finish to it.

I am extremely pleased with my purchases, and will certainly be expanding my collection in the future.

Channeling Your Inner Taylor Swift

We all have those days where all we want to do is slap on a red lipstick and dance around the house with music on full blast whilst channeling our inner Taylor Swift.

If red lipstick is on your makeup menu then I've got you covered with my top three picks, each bringing a different tone, finish and texture to the table.

For an easy to apply, almost care/fuss free, lipstick go for the Revlon Colourstay Lipbutter in 'Candy Apple'. It looks great with a heavier eye look as it has more of a sheer finish - meaning it's possibly the one to opt for if you are preparing to brave your first time wearing red lips. For those like me, who just like to dive straight in at the deep end, how about the MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in 'Ruby Woo'. It is a cult classic amongst the blogging community, and one most people tend to try out when they are looking for a new red lippy. Ruby Woo has an extremely matte finish which, if you can handle it, can switch up your look in an instant. Some people say that this lipstick is slightly drying, so if it is one that you reaaaaally like the look of - you can do what I do and apply a touch of vaseline whilst prepping your skin.

Now, for those after a little touch of luxury, the NARS Satin Lip Pencils will be right up your street. Here I have 'Mandore' which is a gorgeous dark red/cranberry and would be absolutely stunning for those with pale or rich skin tones. I have very pale skin so this dark colour suits me perfectly! It has a very creamy formula and as the name suggests - has a satin finish. It isn't one of the cheapest options retailing at £19.00, but it feels so luxurious and is certainly worth the money!

Got any recommendations of your own? Let me know!

Fitspiration #3 - The iPhone Apps

I find my iPhone incredibly handy when it comes to tracking my diet and working out. I use it constantly whether I'm working out, or eating cake. I always have it in hand to log everything.

MY FITNESS PAL
This app has been in my phone for years. Every new phone I've got, it is downloaded straight away. It helps me keep track of how much I eat and how much I burn. The app even allows you to access your account online where you can get more detailed information about your lifestyle.

NIKE + RUNNING
A cult app for all runners and fitness fanatics. It tracks how far you run, how many calories you burn whilst running and with GPS it even sees where you run! As with myfitnesspal, you can even login online to track your progress and even view other runners' routes in your local area!

SPOTIFY
I don't just use this when I fancy a little boogie, I use this when I work out too. I have saved playlists and even made my own playlists for whatever type of workout I want to do - whether it's cardio or yoga! Using Spotify also means that I don't have to spend time updating my playlists as someone else does it for you! Yay!

30 DAY AB CHALLENGE
I'm sure you've all seen people attempting the 30 day squat challenge on Instagram? Well this app is made by the people that came up with the idea. There is a whole range of apps including the squat challenge and even a press up challenge. I like this app as it combines a few different exercises to help you get rid of that dreaded muffin top!

SEVEN
Do you struggle to find large blocks of time to work out? Well this app is designed for people just like you! It gives 12 exercises to do in just 7 minutes (each exercise is 30 seconds) so you can boost your fitness with no excuses!
I find this incredibly useful to do when I don't have the time to do cardio.

What apps do you guys use/recommend?

Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze and Glow

It's ridiculous how long I have lusted after the Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze and Glow. But now, ladies and gentlemen, it is finally mine!

First up, can we just take a moment to appreciate the packaging! My friends know I'm a sucker for pretty packaging and this is certainly no exception to that rule! The stunning 1920s/art deco inspired casing is truly beautiful and really shows why high end is seen as better.

I've only been using this for a couple of weeks so this isn't an in depth review, but more of a first impressions. The powders are so buttery and the pigmentation is absolutely perfect! They are just enough to see that they are there whilst not being too overpowering. Straight after buying this I started to have second thoughts, worrying that they would look really cakey on the skin. Recently I've been wearing a lot more liquid highlighters recently for a more natural finish and was surprised to find that they looked almost as natural!

The bronzer has a slight shimmer to it that is really subtle but helps give you a nice healthy glow. The highlighter has a very iridescent finish and you look almost like a sea shell.

I will certainly be using this duo more in the coming weeks as it is gorgeous! Money well spent I think!

February Faves

How is it that time of the month again already? It seems only two minutes since I was writing my last favourites post! But without further a due, here are my favourite beauty products this month!

There have been a couple of new purchases this month that have really bowled me over and made such a fantastic first impression! One of those has been the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Coded Eyeshadow Quad in Dolce Vita which was a very 'in the moment' impulse buy. I have been eyeing this up for absolutely ages and I finally caved and bought it whilst in Harvey Nichols at the beginning of the month. I was so amazed with the quality of the shadows. I know that Charlotte Tilbury always has the highest, most sought after quality - and these were no exception! They are so creamy, almost like a cream eyeshadow. Being this creamy means you get very minimal fallout (yaaaaay!) and they are super easy to blend (and I mean ridiculously easy!). Even without all those fancy blending brushes. I have once even used my finger when desperate and the final outcome still looks great!

Another new purchase was the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna. I have been wearing this shade pretty much every day and it has received many compliments! I was singing its praises to one of my friends who, when realising that I loved it so much, decided to try and scratch the NARS logo off the side of the bullet. Luckily they were joking and I came immediately to its rescue!

This friend also happened to be the one who bought me the nail varnish that has been featuring heaving on my toes this month! The Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polish in 'Rosy Outlook' has been constantly on my toes this month as we slowly start to see signs of spring. It is such an adorable shade and I love it so much!

And finally, the star of the show has been the Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot powder which I have worn every makeup wearing day of the month! I have been recently opting for a more natural bases, mainly using bb creams and sheer foundations, and this powder has been perfect for finishing off my looks! It isn't too cakey which is perfect for those 'no makeup, makeup' days.
